Rhenium -  is  silvery matal. It absolutely does not grow dull on air under low temperatures for years. Only under 300°C  oxidizing of this metal may be noticeably; it goes intensively only under temperature more than 600°C. It means that rhenium stands up to oxidizing better, than molybdenum and tungsten; moreover it absolutely not reacts with nitrogen and hydrogen.

Extremely favorable combination of physical and chemical properties (plus good weldability) is very interesting for such fields of science, which presumes heavy expenses for attainment of necessary properties. But even these fields find most rational ways of using this material. Rhenium usually used in alloys, which is cheaper, than irhenium in pure form. As to pure rhenium, they usually do only extra-important small details of this type of rhenium. And, of course, other metals may be cover by rhenium.
