Ferrovanadium
Ferrovanadium is produced by reduction of technical vanadium pentoxide by silicon of ferrosilicium or by aluminium in the arc electric furnace. The choice of a ferrovanadium melt way is defined by vanadium content in the alloy.
In ferrous metallurgy vanadium is an irreplaceable alloying element with practically unlimited sphere of application in steels and alloys of the diversified classes and purposes. Vanadium containing alloys on the basis of the titan take leading place in nuclear and avia-space technics engineering, chemical mechanical engineering and shipbuilding.
Ferrovanadium is applied for manufacture of microcrystallitic structures of steel, increase of impact strength and stability of steel against sign-variable loadings, to increase of hardenability hardness penetration and stability against temper.
The surface and pieces break of ferrovanadium should be not polluted by sand, slag and other alien materials.
The strike of oxide film and traces of parting material is supposed.
